Lead Walker Stuart Thomas has passed on his thanks in his own inimitable way after Saturday's charitable effort and more
"Well, ‘Walking with Stu’ for some meant ‘leaving Stu behind to get to the pub first’ – you know who you are!
Saturday 19th October 2024 I hope will live long in the memory of those who were there, and I can’t thank enough those who walked alongside, upfront or behind me. I know for some it was a challenge but the humour and companionship along 16 miles of the Medway (plus a little bit of road in East Peckham) was an absolute joy.
To emerge from earlier dampness onto Big Bridge with Tonbridge Castle bathed in brilliant sunshine and all walk to the club together was something special.
During the day we smashed through £10,000 and onwards to almost £13,000 and by Sunday we were also beyond that. And it is still going up.
Heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped me along the way. There really is no one to single out – it was a real team effort and those at the league lunch and more managed to raise just under £700 in cash donations too - thank you to everyone who gave
After Saturday no one can be in any doubt that friendship and kindness can mend much that is damaged or broken and I will continue to test that theory to the absolute limit."A TJ insider added
'It was great to see the TJ community and more coming together to not only walk with Stu but also to give him and his fellow walkers such a warm welcome during and after the lunch.
Particularly impressive was Stu's ability to communicate without a microphone and he didn't go on, which I was reliably told by others he would.'And as Stu says friendship and kindness is what rugby clubs and more are founded upon. Making rugby memories matter and Saturday has added yet more to the TJ memory store
